The overall idea of a mystery game with two detectives is fun, if it were implemented better. Good points? There's a lot of CGs and a lot of animation sequences, which are pretty cool. Unfair mystery - breaks several rules of mystery writing, along with the poor translation making it hard at times to tell what clues are even meant to be Ridiculously vulgar dialog and endless fanservice shots but no H, thus making neither camp happy Inability to save everywhere and no indication of when you actually can save (you can try, but it'll load you from a checkpoint of its choice) Terrible 'system' that requires a walkthrough and viewing the same text multiple times in a row to progress, because the game text will repeatedly tell you to do things when you are required to do the opposite
It’s absolutely worth a read if you can ignore the dated jokes and “punch-up” the translators added. I am a big fan of Hiroyuki Kanno’s writing and this is one of the few English translations of his work to be found. The sprites have a lot of charm, as well. The soundtrack and backgrounds are all beautiful.

The “multi-sight” dual protagonist format helps to keep things fresh when you get stuck advancing one character or the other’s side of the story, but there are also plenty of full walkthroughs online to reference if you just want to keep things moving. There is some old-school adventure game frustration to be found, but it’s often rewarding if you play patiently and think critically about what needs to happen next - I had fun wandering back and forth across town as Kojiroh waiting to run in to his next lead. The characters are charming and dynamic, and their motivations and relationships grow and and change in satisfying ways. There are so many intricate mysteries and conspiracies to try and unravel, especially as the different threads start to come together in the second half. The translation is VERY dated but it’s worth putting up with for this classic gem.
